Report a link
To report a Klip short link or QR code, paste the link or its short code into the form below and say what is wrong with it. Reports go to a person. A link that breaks our rules stops resolving worldwide within about thirty seconds of that decision, everywhere it was printed, which is the point of a dynamic code, used in the other direction.
What helps us act faster
The short code on its own is enough to find the link. What we usually lack is thecontext: where you saw it, and what it asked you for. “Arrived by SMS claiming to be an M-PESA reversal, asked for my PIN” is actionable in a minute. “This link is a scam” takes longer, because we have to work out what kind.
What we can and cannot do
We can stop a link resolving, and we can suspend the account that made it. We cannot remove the destination page (that belongs to whoever hosts it) and we cannot recover money already sent. If you have lost money, report it to your bank or mobile money provider first; that is time-sensitive in a way this form is not.
If this form will not load
Email abuse@klipqr.com with the link and what is wrong with it. It reaches the same people. The form is only preferred because it puts the report in a queue that can be counted and searched, rather than in a mailbox.
Questions
The things people ask before they commit something to paper.
How quickly is a bad link taken down?
Once we decide a link breaks the rules, it stops resolving worldwide within about thirty seconds. That is the propagation time of the blocklist entry at the edge, not a service-level promise about how long triage takes, a report still has to be read by a person first.
Will you tell me what happened to my report?
Not usually, and not automatically. We do not confirm whether a particular code exists or who created it, because that would make this form a way to check which links are live and who is behind them. If we need more detail and you left an email address, we will ask.
Do I have to give my email address?
No. A report without one is treated exactly the same. The field exists so we can ask a follow-up question, and it is optional because the people best placed to report a scam are often the least willing to hand their address to whoever is running it.
What if the link is not a Klip link?
We can only act on links on our own domains. If the link is on another shortener, report it to that operator, their abuse address is usually abuse@ their domain. If it arrived by SMS in Kenya, you can also forward it to your mobile operator’s spam reporting shortcode.
